Drawing upon 17 years of teaching at Audubon Vermont and 30 years of gardening with a focus on native and edible plants, I can offer guidance with:
Native plant selection
Invasive plant identification and management strategies
Fruit and vegetable garden advice
Creating wildlife habitat to provide food and nesting sites for pollinators and birds
Pruning trees and shrubs
Taking a light touch with spring and fall garden cleanup
I’d love to talk plants with you.

Here’s how it typically goes:
We walk the garden together. I find out what you love about your garden, what you’d like to change, and what might be a little overwhelming.
I identify plants, as needed. I can spot the difference between an unwelcome weed and an ecologically harmful invasive plant and offer advice on how to manage them.
I make plant recommendations that are suited to your garden’s soil and sun, prioritizing native plants and pollinator plants. I consider the layers of your garden, habitat and nesting sites, and food for wildlife (and humans) across the seasons.
I take notes along the way and leave them with you. If there are any questions that I need to do a little more research on, I will send you a follow up email within a week of our visit.
